The Name

What does Zi-Jun (梓 雋) mean?

Zi:
This refers to a specific kind of tree. In English it is called Catalpa Ovata or Catalpa Kaempferis. It is more commonly referred to as the Chinese Catalpa. This tree has a deep meaning in Chinese history and art. You can see some pictures of this tree at the following links:

Jun:
The basic Engish meaning is 'smart, eminent, talented.' Julia said it means beautiful, but not a common form of beauty. Perhaps extremely beautiful is an ok translation.


Together zi and jun mean an extremely beautiful and outstanding Chinese Catalpa Tree. To really understand it's significance requires explanation of the role these trees have in Chinese culture. Stay tuned to learn more.
